We live in a time when healthcare is struggling, both north and south of the border.
In Canada, waitlists are at an all-time high. Millions of people don’t have family doctors. Emergency rooms are overcrowded, and access to even simple care is becoming harder to find. In the United States, healthcare costs are spiraling while life expectancy falls.
It’s fair to say the system is not in a great place. But what’s equally true, and what often gets lost, is that it’s filled with great people. People who show up every day with knowledge, skill, compassion, creativity, and hard-won experience. People who see where the system breaks down and imagine how it could be better.
And yet, their voices are often unheard.
At Hallway Press, we believe the solutions to our most pressing problems won’t come to these people, they’ll come from them. From the clinicians, researchers, educators, and innovators who live inside this system every day. The ones who see where it falters, who imagine how it could be better, and who hold in their minds and hearts the raw material for change.
Our mission is to give voice to the people who live this work. To the thinkers and doers who carry both intellectual depth and lived experience. Because ideas matter—not just clever ones, but true ones. Ideas that come from the intersection of knowledge and experience.
That intersection is where wisdom lives.
That’s why we exist. Hallway Press is a place for ideas that are both intelligent and deeply human. A place where the collective wisdom of those within healthcare can be shared, debated, and built upon, helping us all see more clearly.
Between the objective reality of data and the subjective reality of experience lies something powerful: an intersubjective reality. It’s in that shared space, where minds meet and perspectives intertwine, that real progress happens. That’s how discoveries are born. That’s how systems change.
Our hope is simple. By creating a space for these voices—for your voice—we can help make healthcare as great as the people within it.
Hallway Press will begin with a quarterly magazine, with our first issue launching in Q1 2026. If you have an idea, a perspective, or a story worth sharing, we’d love to hear from you.
I hope you’ll subscribe and come along for the journey.— Daniel Rasic
